SynSense

Accelerating AI at the extreme low power edge using event based asynchronous analogue inference

Founded in 2017 by two of the leading researchers in the field of neuromorphic computing, Professor Giacomo Indiveri and Dr. Ning Qiao of the joint institute of Neuroinformatics at the University of Zürich and ETH Zürich, Synsense is commercializing the most energy efficient AI chips on the market, inspired by the human brain. Synsense has 3 product families that cover vision-, auditory and bio-signal processing but as a “full-stack” neuromorphic engineering company it is able to apply its bio- inspired spiking neural networks and signal processing approaches to almost every real-time, low power AI tasks in edge devices.

Since 2020, the company is based in Chengdu (China) and has raised capital from some of the most reputable investors in the Chinese VC ecosystem like CTC Capital CAS Star, Baidu Ventures and others. The investment represented the first investment of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany’s China Seed Fund Initiative, which was implemented in October 2019 by M Ventures in cooperation with the Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany China Innovation Hub.
