Mosa Meat, the pioneer in cell-cultivated beef, announced it has raised an additional €15 million in funding.
MAASTRICHT, The Netherlands, Dec 23, 2025 - Mosa Meat, the pioneer in cell-cultivated beef, announced it has raised an additional €15 million in funding. This extension follows a successful €40 million round, and a crowdfunding campaign that both exceeded targets, securing a total of €58 million of capital injections in the past two years. The financing includes continued support from Invest-NL backed by a guarantee from InvestEU, and LIOF, both Dutch state-owned impact investors, as well as strategic partner PHW Group and Jitse Groen, the founder and CEO of Just Eat Takeaway.com.
This fresh financing solidifies Mosa Meat’s outlook for the coming years, supporting the company’s next phase of regulatory market approvals and first significant revenue generation.
When we introduced the first cultivated burger, it was a €250,000 proof of concept. Today, through fundamental scientific breakthroughs and scaling efficiencies, we are producing burgers at a price point ready for restaurant menus. With the backing of our world-class investors, we have successfully turned a science project into a tasty and affordable product without compromising on our original vision.
Cultivated meat is an important component in the protein transition needed to reduce the impact of livestock farming. As in any emerging sector, investing in cultivated meat is challenging and requires stamina. Mosa Meat has built a strong foundation and is taking clear steps toward commercialization. The company’s strong team, solid progress and continued support from existing shareholders give us confidence to continue our support in this next phase.
Amidst a challenging macroeconomic landscape for the cellular agriculture sector, Mosa Meat has achieved a critical commercial milestone: a 99.999% cost reduction compared to the first burger unveiled in London. Mosa Meat currently has regulatory dossiers under review in the United Kingdom, the European Union, Switzerland and Singapore. The company was also recently selected for the UK’s regulatory "Sandbox" programme, supported by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.
Despite external pressures, including disinformation campaigns and proposed bans in certain regions, Mosa Meat remains dedicated, as the opportunity for this technology continues to be enormous. Working alongside the Cellular Agriculture Netherlands (CAN) foundation, Mosa Meat was recently defined as a participating partner in a strategic climate technology project in the influential Dutch 'Wennink Report.' Consequently, Mosa Meat’s work is positioned to benefit from national supporting mechanisms that align public-private financing and regulatory reform to accelerate the Netherlands' transition to sustainable growth.
Cultivated meat offers the opportunity to strengthen Europe's food system by reducing reliance on imports, enhancing food sovereignty, and ensuring a resilient, sustainable supply chain, as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions for beef production by up to 93%. As cultivated products progress through regulatory approval, Mosa Meat remains at the forefront of sustainable food innovation, delivering on its promise to reshape the global food system.
